Things are not always as they seem….
Some lessons in life are learned the hard way. Our parents, grandparents, elders and teachers all tried to teach us that things are not always as they seem. Kind of like not judging a book by it’s cover.
I was reminded of this truth about a year ago while shopping at a big-box-store with my mother in law. We were in the camera department, as she needed to use their machine to make copies of some of her photos.
A young woman was at the machine, with a ton of pictures strewn about. My first thought was great….we’re going to be here forever waiting for her to finish ALL of those!
After this young woman realized my mother in law and I were getting agitated and impatient, she offered to let us jump in and quickly make our copies.
When my mother in law asked was she making a scrapbook, the young woman explained to us that she was making a memory album of her husband. That he’d just passed away 2 weeks prior due to a car accident. Immediately, we felt awful. Not only for this young woman to have lost her husband, and the father of her children, but that we were in such a hurry, growing agitated and impatient with her. How were we to know?
Lesson learned. Things are not always what they seem!
